How to Take the Best Photos for Your Custom Pet Portrait
Where to Begin:
What do you need to send me to get started on your artwork? To create a truly personalized custom pet portrait or digital pet painting, I need high-quality images that capture your pet’s unique personality and features. You don’t need a fancy camera — cell phone photos work perfectly — but a few simple guidelines will help ensure your final artwork is accurate and meaningful.
✅ What to Send:
Please provide 5–10 in-focus images of your pet. These should include:
- Side views from both the left and right
- Front-facing shots, including at least one close-up of the face
- A photo or two that clearly shows eye color
- Photos where your pet takes up 50–70% of the frame
📵 Please avoid:
- Blurry or heavily filtered images
- Dim lighting
- Far-away shots where details are hard to see
- Professionally taken photographs — unfortunately, I can’t use these due to copyright restrictions
💡 Helpful Tips:
- Take photos in natural light (outside or near a window)
- Capture your pet in a relaxed, alert pose — treats or toys can help!
- Don’t worry about the background — I’ll be creating a new one for your artwork
